Our journey to the Amiga Atlanta Power PicNik began at our arrival at an un-imposing structure in the heart of the Atlanta Emory University District. What seemed simple would prove both historical and unique. The two story building (with a bronze grave marker honoring the school's founder) that once housed one of Atlanta's first private schools for children proved to be a three story monument to hand hewn granite from Atlanta's very earth, and the improvements by a group of dedicated Tech_Nets... Yes, after a short decent down some stairs, we arrived in a large back area covered in Kudzu and grass with creeks and hardwoods and, to our surprise, three stories of imposing early century workmanship. Which opened to the World Wide Possibilities and Endeavors of Railroad Earth Studios. RRE is a diversified Media organization claiming roots that go deeper than the diversity that makes up Emory University... From a full featured recording and sound studio, a mini-theater and computer Web Casting Operations center, to the private quiarters and general "At Home"spirit of the decor, we were at once in understanding with RRE's High-Tech yet 70's spirit... proving the seventies may be hard to Dis in the heart of our Artistic Community ... Yes, Neil Fried, another of the RRE crew explained how RRE provides a host of services and has a history which includes inclusion into a small group who began Web Casting in its infancy (3 years ago). In fact, every week end RRE provides entertainment in many forms, from Metal Pouring Shows to Cultural Music Events and producing shows with Local Bands and Artists. Heading the greeting list was Scott Childs, a CHEMISTRY major whose entire persona seemed more in tune to the tunes than a Chemistry Lab --- that is until you were captivated by his charm, wit and the intelligent depth of his eyes behind the wire rimmed glasses he wore with grace. Yes, I could see the Professor-Scientist in Scott... yet hands which danced effortlessly across the keyboards of the computers in the operations center struck me as significant of this man's possibilities to humanity .. immense and gifted... After we set up and met a few more of the crew, we were astonished to meet Robin. Now Robin is a deep soul. With his gentle and accommodating personality, we, Pastor Earl and Michael Braddock -- my crew of adventurous volunteers -- and myself were soon at HOME! Robin offered to provide our tour of the facility. As if exploring a series of hidden rooms in some ancient castle, we were soon aware of the works of RRE. Hey, Robin, you are way cool! Maurice Clifford. Animation, 3-D and VRML design, interactive presentation, logo and print graphics.Maurice is a visual artist exhibiting internationally and teaches digital arts at the American Intercontinental University and the Atlanta Art Institute Scott Childs. chemistry, music, authoring, web functionality, project management. Scott is in the final year of his pH.d in crystallography in the chemistry department at Emory University and will be one of the first to publish his thesis using primarily electronic media.Neil Fried is the venture anarchist of Railroad Earth. Music, Film, Words, and Web Consciousness. Clark Vreeland: Music production and composition, multi-media presentation, printmaking, public relations. Clark has produced and collaborated with many popular recording artists. He also exhibits as a painter. Joel Rives: music-arts-software Forty years from the lift off of their journey, Railroad Earth carries on with the spirit of exploration and cross pollination. And born of a different generationthough still in love with the VW we embrace the tools that sprung from the space race that so shaped our lives. The earth is a network of tracks: real and virtual. Railroad Earth rides them all. Railroad

Well, Time For The Core Of Our EZnewsTV Report! Amiga Atlanta and Lamar Morgan, President of Amiga Atlanta, were our cause and reason for having such a great time. And, speaking of Amiga Atlanta, most of you are new to the Internet, or, for Tech-Nets, WideWorld Web. Well, Amiga Atlanta is a core group of Amiga Platform users dedicated to continuing Amiga technology. And, what is this TECHNOLOGY you are asking.. Amiga began its long and successful journey as a games software/hardware company and soon became the worlds first and only Multi-Tasking Computer Platform and Operating System. In fact, before windows was ever considered as a name for an operating system, Amiga was rocking along. NASA is one of the major organizations utilizing the Amiga Platform. In fact, Amiga has proven the ability to track and task multiple satellites using single machines. The NASA Space Shuttle program uses Amiga Platforms for the core of its program! In addition to the many large organizations and companies using the Multi-Tasking Amiga, the Special Olympics chose Amiga Atlanta for participation in the last three Special Olympics. Amiga Atlanta members freely set up multiple Amiga Computers to allow youth to have fun and use the systems. Yes, Amiga Atlanta is a dedicated and providing group of individuals who care about youth as well as promoting and praising their Amiga Platform. They meet each month to share ideas and general information concerning the Amiga System and Amiga Games. Lamar Morgan,President of the group, was also quick to point out the fact the Gateway, the giant computer retailer, recently purchased Amiga and great works are in its future.. including a broad based Home Appliance future So, how was our day? Well, after a tour of the computer center and meeting additional guests, We were treated to the generosity of Lamar and crew to a great and rewarding experience. Amiga Atlanta spared no expense, even catering the event to unique and gifted Atlanta Chef Dawna Wilkinson. Dawna hails Hawaiian Ancestry and provided New Orleans flavor ( not as in Taste, Lineage or History, but in joviality and grace). Among her incredible [edible!] presentations, her stuffed shrimp and lemonade crab proved a gifted and learned ability to prepare delicious, unique and beautifully superb presentations! Yes, we had a great time, and, even though we discovered the Web Mobile's generator caused some havoc with our new cameras and sound system, we feel that this article and the links provided will provide you with opportunity to expand your knowledge and visit or join one with Amiga Atlanta and RRE! Amiga Atlanta, Inc. (AAi) was created on January 22, 1986 solely as a not for profit user group for all users of the Amiga computer family. Anyone may join whether or not they own an Amiga.
