5 September, 1999 Guitarist Steve Terwilliger departs band After 3 years, Steve Terwilliger, one of Sojourn's two guitarists, has departed Sojourn. It was with Steve's guitar influences that Sojourn recorded their jazz/rock influenced 1998 CD, NOT THE SAME THING. Steve is moving his family "back home" to California in early September. "We decided not to try and replace Steve," lead singer Adam Parmenter explained. "Dean has been playing guitar since Sojourn started 7 years ago. Tim's been with us on bass guitar for about five. The three of us have grown into a cohesive unit. Our drummer Denny Jeltema, although only in the band for a little over a year, has locked in so well that he's absolutely crucial to our music. The four of us work very well together, and we didn't want to disrupt that." I'm excited at the opportunity to rediscover our creative energy. We've written three new songs, and are hoping to release a CD in the next six months. The updated sound is classic Sojourn with a light 90's pop/rock feel." Sojourn will debut their new sound at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 11 at the Allegan County Fair's Community Tent. Other fall shows will be at Cappuccino Jo's in Wyoming, Michigan on October 9th and Barnes & Nobel in Portage, Michigan on November 6th. Sojourn will be adding other bookings for the fall & winter of 1999 and all of the year 2000. "It's exciting to see that our calendar is starting to fill up. We took a little break to regroup and I've missed being out in front of people with our music and our message."
