Even as United States was under attack from outside forces in her war on terror, it was also crumbling from within thanks to severe financial crisis for the last six decades. Constant wars, borrowing and overspending had significantly lightened her coffers, while oppressive taxation and inflation widened the gap between rich and poor.
As more and more funds were funneled into the military upkeep, technological advancement slowed and the United States soon discovered her civil infrastructure had fallen into disrepair. Bridges, roads, ports, highways, electrical grid systems and many public structures fell into disrepair.
At the same time, she discovered that her trade was imbalanced, more goods came into the United States than went out. And the fact she was rocked by labor deficit, her economy once depended on immigrants to till its fields and work as craftsmen and laborers, but her citizens, angered at illegal immigration and the Senate, Congress and President’s offering of rights, free schooling, and the competition for their jobs, caused immigration to diminish.
At its height, the United States military power stretched from the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans to all corners of the globe, including the Middle East, Europe, Africa, South Pacific and Asia. But its grandeur may have also been its downfall. With such a vast territory to patrol and defend, the United States faced a costly administrative and logistical nightmare.
Even with her excellent military, navy and air forces, the United States was unable to quickly or effectively manage their holdings. The United States struggled to marshal enough resources to maintain its objectives. Soon, Local and outside terror attacks caused by terrorists crossing her borders, forced her to build her famous walls. Walls that were eventually breached.
On the home front, political rot also extended to the US Senate and Congress, which failed to temper their excesses or that of the President due to its own widespread corruption and incompetence. As the situation worsened, civic pride waned and many United States citizens lost trust in their leadership.
For most of its history, the United States military was the envy of the modern world. But during the decline, the makeup of the once mighty battalions began to change. Unable to recruit enough soldiers from the citizenry, Presidents began recruiting immigrants, foreign mercenaries and offering incentives to prop up her armies.
The ranks of the Battalions eventually swelled with these soldiers whom, while proving to be fierce warriors, they had little or no loyalty to the United States….
